Starry Night Hollow July Newsletter

I truly can't believe how quickly time goes by!!!  Believe it or not we are 1 year old his August 13th!!!  For those of you who have been with us from the beginning, you have witnessed our metamorphosis and have seen how far we've come. 

I want to thank all of you for helping us realize our mission statement, because your wonderful spirit is what has helped us create the unique environment we enjoy.  In the past year we have met the most wonderful people with amazing stories and big hearts!  Because we chose to grow by word of mouth, you have brought us your friends and they have brought their friends and the warmth has just grown and grown!

Starry Night Hollow has grown!  Most of you have met Emily-she is a uniquely creative, sensitive and kind representative of the next generation of crafters and quilters-Emily has single handedly brought us into the age of cyberspace by creating our website and greeting each of you that come into the shop.  Our teachers are wonderful!  For those of you who proudly carry a bag you made in Sam's class or wrap yourselves in a quilt you've made in Denise or Andrea's classes know that we are truly blessed to have such wonderful teachers!  And although I say that I really don't like to teach, those of you who have braved the creative, ruleless, non-formatted classes that I teach have made me enjoy teaching (if that's what you call what I do)!!!

Of  course I would be truly remiss if I didn't thank our wonderful "Godmother" of quilting, Nancy McMillan-Nancy is my glue and motivator-she keeps me on the straight and narrow because she understands what all of you need and makes sure I'm on it!  She also takes really good care of all of us!

Miss Brenda is our sunshine- whether she's stopping by with quilts or muffins, she always brings a smile to our faces!

Another inspiration is my friend Amy.  Amy is Sam's good friend and Sam was kind enough to share her with me-in large part because Amy and I are kind of kindred spirits.  Amy is not only an amazing friend with endless energy; she is also a 7 year breast cancer survivor.  When she was 32, she was diagnosed with multiple types of really bad cancer and had a double mastectomy with 2 babies at home- one year later she had her ovaries removed.  She is now doing great and I have to say that her positive outlook on life, her kind heart and great sense of humor isthe kind of inspiration we all need in our lives!  Needless to say, I was hugely affected when she asked me to walk with her this November in the Susan G. Komen 3-day.  Many of you may have noticed that we are running all types of promotions in the store to raise the money for the walk.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support in our efforts!!!

Lastly, we are committed to making your Starry Night Hollow experience an on-going pleasure.  To this end, we will be having constant promotions and events to keep spirits high and hopefully to remind you that we are eternally grateful for all your support!!!  Coming up is th SWAP OR SELL!!!  This idea came from the fact that we all have grwoing stashes and need a good way to make room for more...Since our environment is ideal for a 'festival' we have decided to invite you to set up your own booth to sell or trade your stash or any other items you would like to share-Starry Night Hollow is not taking a dime, the profit is yours.  The fee of $15.00 for two days will cover snacks and refreshments-Take advantage of this fun opportunity!!!  We are hoping to have this event twice a year going forward-Flyers are avalable in the store to pass out to friends.

FALL FESTIVAL!!!  Call me crazy, but I did plant pumpkins in the front of the store and they should be perfect for picking whent he Fall Festival kicks off on Friday, October 3rd!  This will be even bigger than une Jamboree so save the dates and watch the website and your emails for contest information and updates!

Next month, we will be having a 1 year celebration of some sort-I just haven't dreamed it up yet...
